Published Tue, 25 Feb 2025 00:07:40 GMT

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Showers are already fading with breaks of sunshine developing. I expect most areas will be dry by 7 p.m. if not sooner. Daytime highs are not likely to leave the low to mid 70s, leaving us more than 10°-15º cooler than where we should be this time of year. BLOG: Summer forecast released: When do 100º days begin Rainfall amounts were highest in the Hill Country where several tenths of an inch of rain was reported in spots. Just a few hundredths of an inch fell in the Austin Metro with even less in our eastern counties. CENTRAL TEXAS RAINFALL TOTALS Don't get too comfortable with the cooler weather though as temperatures waste no time warming back up tomorrow. Seventh inning sinks Twins in loss to Angels

Published Tue, 25 Feb 2025 00:07:40 GMT

ANAHEIM, Calif. — The pitching matchup certainly lived up to the billing.Shohei Ohtani was Shohei Ohtani and Pablo López was Pablo López, which is to say that the two starting pitchers spent the majority of the day dealing, settling into a nice little pitcher’s duel.It wasn’t until each pitcher left the game that things broke down for the Twins, yet another bases-loaded opportunity falling to the wayside in the top of the seventh inning and the Angels surging ahead against the bullpen in the bottom of the frame. Both were all-too-familiar happenings for the Twins on their six-game road swing through Southern California, which ended with a 4-2 loss to the Angels on Sunday afternoon in Anaheim.López took the loss in the game, left in to start the seventh inning. He walked the first batter, spelling the end of his day. From there, Jorge López entered, immediately giving up a pair of doubles to Zach Neto and Mickey Moniak, the latter of which brought home a pair of runs. The game swung i...

LOS ANGELES — It’s almost time to break out the brooms. The Denver Nuggets are one win from the NBA Finals, and they have a chance to sweep LeBron James in a playoff series for only the third time in his career. Here are three keys to winning Game 4 on Monday (6:30 p.m. MT, ESPN) in Los Angeles.1. Keep MPJ engaged: Michael Porter Jr. is 11 for 23 from 3-point range in this series. And despite not having any one explosive scoring game yet — he’s averaging 15 in this series and has only one 20-point game the last two rounds — he’s contributed in meaningful ways Saturday. His Game 3 was best characterized by 10 rebounds, six assists and no turnovers to pair with a solid defensive effort. “That, to me,” coach Michael Malone said, “is a snapshot of Michael Porter’s potential greatness.” One of Malone’s favorite plays of the game was Porter’s extra pass to Bruce Brown for a corner three that helped Denver bury the Lake...

Flanked by local leaders, U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee called for a radical overhaul of the U.S. Supreme Court at a press conference in Oakland on Sunday, calling the way the court currently operates “a crisis of democracy”.The reforms would include adding justices, creating term limits, and investigating ethics violations. The nation’s highest court, which has a conservative majority, currently has nine justices serving lifetime appointments.Lee, a Democrat who represents the East Bay in Congress and is vying to succeed Dianne Feinstein in the Senate, said the reforms were imperative for continued public trust in the court, which has faced criticism from progressives after a series of ethics scandals and controversial rulings, most notably the decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, the nation’s landmark abortion law.“I have never been more fearful for the future of our highest court than I am today,” Lee said. The event in Oakland was the second California stop in a ser...
