Two hurt in another shooting on Cherokee Street as festival ends ST. LOUIS - Two people are hurt after another shooting on Cherokee Street, which happened Saturday as its Cinco de Mayo festival was wrapping up for the day. It's the second one on the street in as many days. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports one woman and one man were shot around 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Cherokee Street. Man killed in Hwy 1 wrong-way crash, DUI suspected (BCN/KRON) -- California Highway Patrol officers responded to a collision near state Highway 1 and state Highway 68 in Monterey County early Saturday morning. CHP said a 69-year-old man was killed in the crash. Oakland’s largest homeless encampment razed, 700 tons of trash hauled away According to CHP, a Toyota Camry was going northbound in the southbound lanes on State Route 1 when it crashed into the front of a Mitsubishi at about 3:45 a.m. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 69-year-old man from Seaside, was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP said drugs and/or alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the Toyota, Chris Witherspoon, 25, of Hope Mills, NC, was arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail. The freeway was temporarily shut down while CHP investigated the crash. Traffic remained slow in the area until 5:30 a.m. Bay City News contributed to this story.
