BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union late Monday reversed an earlier announcement by an EU commissioner that the bloc was “immediately” suspending development aid for Palestinian authorities and instead said it would urgently review such assistance in the wake of the attacks on Israel by Hamas to make sure no money was misused.“There will be no suspension of payments” at the moment, a terse European Commission statement said late Monday, five hours after EU Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi had said that all payments from the development program for Palestinians would be “immediately suspended. All projects put under review. All new budget proposals … postponed until further notice.”No immediate explanation for the reversal was given. A full European Commission statement always trumps a statement from an EU commissioner, but the reversal on a 691 million-euro ($730 million) program capped an embarrassing day at the EU’s executive at a time of extreme geopolitical sensitivities. AUSTIN (KXAN) - In Texas' 34-30 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday in the Red River Rivalry, a couple of key momentum swings seemed to decide the game. The Longhorns held the lead late but ultimately suffered their first loss of the year. The Sooners drove down the field to score the game-winning touchdown with 1:17 left in the game with no timeouts. That, along with a defensive stand for Oklahoma, are the two moments that are pointed to in hindsight where the Sooners won. AUSTIN (The Texas Tribune) -- House Speaker Dade Phelan strongly condemned the leader of a major conservative PAC and demanded that elected officials — including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick — return money they received from the group, one day after The Texas Tribune reported that it had recently hosted well-known white supremacist Nick Fuentes."This (is) not just a casual misstep,” Phelan said in a statement. “It’s indicative of the moral, political rot that has been festering in a certain segment of our party for far too long. Anti-Semitism, bigotry and Hitler apologists should find no sanctuary in the Republican party. Period. We cannot – and must not – tolerate the tacit endorsement of such vile ideologies.”Shortly after, Patrick denounced Fuentes and anti-semitism, but accused Phelan — whose statement noted Hamas' attack on Israel on Saturday — of exploiting the war for “his own political gain.” He called on Phelan to resign as speaker before 1 p.m. on Monday, when the Texas House is e...Vikings might have to protect injured star receiver Justin Jefferson from himself

If star receiver Justin Jefferson had his way, he would have been on the field for the Vikings on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium as they tried to mount a comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs.Instead, he stood on the sidelines with a towel draped over his head through the final minutes of the 27-20 loss, nursing a hamstring injury that forced him out of the game.Talking to reporters on Monday at TCO Performance Center, head coach Kevin O’Connell said the Vikings are still trying to determine how much time Jefferson will miss moving forward. The hamstring injury occurred late in the game while Jefferson was trying to make a cut to get open. He missed most of the fourth quarter as the Vikings dropped to 1-4 .“He’s down today,” O’Connell said. “He’s obviously among the most ultra-competitors I’ve ever met.”Asked if he’s optimistic that Jefferson will be available for the Vikings when they travel to play the Chicago Bears this w...Latest news
